On the ground |
We don't trim standing trees, or take trees down. A qualified tree service is recommended for felling trees. We will remove the log from the property after it is laying on the ground.

Size |
We will be sawing these logs into boards. The size of the logs we are interested in is between 6 to 10 feet length, and between 12 to 36 inches in diameter. If a log is really long, we can cut into two manageable pieces.

Shape |
The logs need to be fairly straight. They can have some bend or twist in them, but straight in general terms. If there is any question, please email us a photo. We will let you know if it qualifies.

Species |
We only accept hardwoods. If has pine cones or needles we are not interested. Most hardwood species are desirable though. You don't often hear about people working with unusual species like Sweet Gum, or Mulberry but these woods work much like commercially available hardwoods (oak, or maple) while they possess interesting and unique properties of their own.

Condition and Location |
Finally, the log cannot be too rotten, or in an inaccessible space. Depending on the log, if it has been laying on bare ground for longer than 6 months it may be no longer viable. Please email us a photo and we can determine if its too far gone.
The log has to be in a spot with reasonable access. If it is at the bottom of a deep ravine, or behind a fixed fence or other permanent obstacle, we will not be able to remove it. If you think there is a reasonable path for the log to be removed then please let us know about it.
